Shiatsu is a form of bodywork from Japan. The word means 'finger pressure'. Shiatsu uses finger and hand pressure combined with gentle manipulative techniques to adjust the body and maintain good health.
The Thai people call their form of massage "nuad boran" which is translated to mean ancient / sacred / revered touch. Based on Ayurvedic medicine, yoga, Buddhism and Tibetan medicine, Thai massage is a practice that is around 2,000 years old. It was brought to Thailand by an Indian doctor, Jivaka Kumar Bhacca, also called Dr. Shivago, who was a contemporary of the Buddah. Dr. Shivago's name is mentioned in the ancient Theravada scriptures known as the Pali Canon.
