Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a form of bodywork from Japan. The word means 'finger pressure'. Shiatsu uses finger and hand pressure combined with manipulative techniques, gentle stretching and meridian balance to adjust the body and maintain good health. It is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine which uses the concept of energy balancing. Emphasis on proper body mechanics for the practitioner and proper application of technique is emphasized. Contraindications are discussed throughout the course. An overview of both 5 Energy and Zen shiatsu theory is introduced.

THIS COURSE HAS BEEN ADAPTED FOR THE TABLE AND IS EASILY INTEGRATED WITH WESTERN MASSAGE TECHNIQUES.

Thai Massage

The Thai people call their form of massage "nuad boran" which is translated to mean ancient / sacred / revered touch. Based on Ayurvedic medicine, yoga, Buddhism and Tibetan medicine, Thai massage is a practice that is around 2,000 years old. It was brought to Thailand by an Indian doctor, Jivaka Kumar Bhacca, also called Dr. Shivago, who was a contemporary of the Buddah. Dr. Shivago's name is mentioned in the ancient Theravada scriptures known as the Pali Canon.
